Parent Reading Schedule and Routine - Friday Mornings at 8:40 (No more than 4 volunteers each Friday)

  • 8:40 Sign in at the office and come to our classroom.
  • Collect your group of blue folders. Each student has a labeled folder containing books. These books have been read in class and should be familiar/easy for the students to read. The objective of your time is to develop oral reading fluency.
  • Find a quiet, comfortable place to read (hallway, library, etc.).
  • Listen to ONE student read at a time. Do NOT read to the students. Students need to read each book from the blue folder TWICE or ONE CHAPTER if the student has a chapter book. Feel free to ask students questions about what they are reading. Again, the objective of your time is to develop oral reading fluency.
Return each student to the classroom to get your next reader.
  • When you finish working with your group of students, you may say good-bye to your child and then it's time to leave. We love having you here to help, but we have many things to do during our day and we don't want to be distracted.
